    MORNING SINGER KACHINA BY JEROME NEQUATEWA
    Half Hopi, half Zuni Jerome Nequatewa was raised with the knowledge of the culture and customs of both the Hopi and the Zuni.  Jerome was taught to carve by his father, the late Harold Nequatewa.  Jerome’s kachinas are delicately carved, showing attention to movement and detail.
    The Early Morning Singer represents early morning because he appears at dawn during the Bean Dance and announces news.  He sings songs to wake the village while passing out bean sprouts for the people to eat.
    Jerome yields to the natural shape of cottonwood root in order to create this wonderfully carved Morning Singer Kachina.  This marvelous carving would be a great addition to your kachina or Native American art collection.  Signed
